MS Mobile Sync problem

I've got a real problem. A month or so ago I upgraded my AT&T Tilt phone to MS Mobile 6.1. Since then I can't sync. I get the same error message: "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop."
I'm using two Vista PC's and the Tilt to basically keep my calendar and contacts synced (or used to anyway). I've tried breaking the partnerships and re-doing the link with no luck. I even reinsatlled the WMDC -- nothing.
Ideas?

Our TECH HOTLINE, at 866-95-FixPc handles synch issues. They may be able to help you out. Give them a call. If they cannot fix it, you don't pay for the service. If it is truly synching issues the service would be $25 if it's a networking issue that changes the scope of service and rates would be different. It doesn't cost anything to call and see if they can diagnose.

Bill,
I had a similar problem running a similar setup as you. I am not syncing to a Tilt but am syncing to a smart phone running MS Mobile 6.1 and the computer is running Vista.
Vista has it's own indexing system and the MS Outlook email client has yet another of it's own indexing system. You have not indicated that you are using MS Outlook as your email client but if you are perhaps and it is MS Outlook 2007 I can tell you that MS does not like to play with Google Desktop which has it's own indexing scheme. I finally learned about the MS Outlook / Google Desktop conflict after much research and some excellent support from Toshiba. MS does not divulge such things. When I got rid of Google Desktop there were no more problems with Active Sync and my smart phone. If you have Google Desktop loaded on your Vista computer, dump it and make sure you have the latest Active Sync on both your computer and your mobile device (the Tilt).
I'll be interested to hear if this is your scenario and if it got fixed with the above maneuver.

Dave,
Thanks, interesting stuff. I am using MS Outlook 2007, but not Google Desktop. Rats.
Question: Where can I get new Active Sync? I did install again Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC).

Hi Bill,
It appears that WMDC 6.1 is the latest and it is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx
It might not hurt to visit your Control Center and see what programs are listed as being installed in your computer. Check to see if Google has anything resident for an application in your system. Also see what you can see (and figure out) for any other program application that may be doing any sort of cataloging or indexing of your files on your computer. Vista and Outlook both utilize indexing schemes that are compatible with each other but may not be compatible with another application that also indexes.
WMDC relies on the indexing to an extent to do the actual synching.
I can tell you also that the MS Business Contact Manager add-on for Outlook is not altogether bug proof. If you have BCM by chance, that could possibly be causing a problem.
